Does quality affordable health care an issue in life?
- I am one of 45 million people without access to affordable health care. It affects my life every day as I am a diabetic and I do not take all the prescribed medicines that I am suppose to. It will probably shorten my life but it is the best I can do. I do not think it is a big issue for the general public, they are not effected by it one way or the other. But for those of of us that need to be able to see a Dr. regularly, It is a dangerous situation. I think that the real answer is to do away with the private insurance company's and offer national health care so that everyone has access to it if they need it. I understand that this would not be free health care as it has to be paid for by taxes, however I would rather see my money going for people like me then to send 10 billion a month to a war in Iraq that should have never been
- I pay $1023 a month for health, and vision insurance through my husband's work. Witht that we have a lower deductible and a higher amount of coverage. This price still seems way to high for health insurance! If I seriously looked into it, we could probably find cheaper insurance through an individual, but I am not sure if the coverage would be as good. So affordable insuance? I wish it was more affordable! A Thousand bucks a month seems pretty high to me. I could think of a better way to spend that $. As far as insurance for people who do not have jobs, or benifits with their jobs, I am not really sure about the affordability for them
- The best way to get everyone the proper care they deserve would be to raise our taxes! In most Scandinavian country's they are taxed alot more than we are here but they have what is called "cradle to grave" medical coverage for anything they need! They do not pay for a doctor or hospital visit. That is why there taxed so much more. So everyone is covered. I realize that this country is not forward thinking enough to do something that makes too much sense!
- First of all, I am a nurse in a NSF. I think there are a lot of really knowledgeable nurses and care providers that truly care about their patients. Unfortunately as with all professions there are those that are solely in the medical field for a paycheck. The quality of health care is improving and there are those facilities and health care providers that do not measure up. Health care is a serious issue because at sometime in our lives we will all be in need of quality medical care and at affordable prices. Too many health care providers overcharge the consumer for services rendered. It is the insurance industry and frivolous lawsuits that have caused the rise in health care. New medications, research and procedure advancements also increase costs. As a concerned citizen, it is our responsibility to voice our feelings about the quality and cost of the health care we receive. Government subsidized health care is not the answer;we have seen how they have treated our veterans when it comes to health care. Its frustrating at times being a nurse in the present health care system. - not enough staff. , equipment or time to spend with each indivual patient. Believe it or not, there is currently a nursing shortage. Many men and woman are chossing more profitable fields. therefore the patient to nurse ratio continues to increase. If I could improve the health care system there would be more incentives for nurses and health care providers, less frivilous lawsuits, annual competency testing, national registry, and mandatory continuing education cl es
- Health insurance is a racket in this country. So is the rest of the insurance. Get health insurance and go across state line and whoops, no insurance. What, you paid your monthly premium and haven't missed a payment in ten years, but the same name insurance company in the bordering state is not really the same company, because it's only for that state. Hmmm, thought it was a nationwide company. Wrong. Check it out. Now your in the hospital, heart attack, kidney failure, accident, and major surgery and no insurance. Whoops, good news, you just had to sign your home over to the hospital. Heck, did not you know, the hospital already put a lean on your place just in case you did not have insurance that would cover the surgery. Insurance companys is a legal way to get you to pay big money for nothing, because they have the top insurance lawyers working for them to make sure they will not really have to pay for anything. Read the small print. Wake up America!
- Ford! What hour is it? I am stumbling and hobbling out here while still trying to put on my shoes. Eh, it's normal for me, as I do wake up twice in the night every day to help someone. One more, but I do not mind at all. I'd gladly answer a friend's questions. ___________________ I am rather clueless when it comes to my health care, since I do not have to worry about it now. My family has a pretty good health care plan, I guess. We're using it right now. And I currently help out a lot for one who is rather constrained due to a health problem. What we'd like to see is more drugs being approved by the FDA rather than having only the choice of the Catheter tube being run up an artery, causing many complications as it tries to offer an immediate remedy. These drugs are as safe as can be; extensive research has been made, and they work. Germany, Japan, and Israel as well as a number of first rate countries do allow the use of some of them. The reason drugs are preferably tried in the US first before they are used in the other countries is because of our "gold - standard, " they say. Then it is easy to market them elsewhere. It is true, but we are not often waiting because of problems with the drugs; but more often, it seems, they are just not as profitable as an operation. I do not like to think that our country's health care system is that rapacious in their direction so as to look only for the bottom line. But I believe that our hospitals are getting desperate since many are going broke due to the influx of illegal immigrants coming here and taking advantage of our hospitals, as well as all the lawsuits that have taken place. I believe the immigrants factor is the biggest of the two. There is a law where we must take them in and give them free operations and surgery when they come in. They do not usually pay, and so the bill must be p ed on. It is also said that the angeo - plasty business generates about 80% of the profit for the hospital. Why should there be a rush to have these s and alternative treatment on the market, then? The Baby Boomers are getting into their years, and into the health problems decade. They may want to know that there are these wonderful drugs out there, but not available due to the FDA sitting on them. They will remember, that it is THEIR OWN POUND OF FLESH, not mine, or their grandchild's that is on the line. Perhaps I should worry about grandpa's bill being p ed to me as a future taxpayer, but I have a slightly more pressing concern. Like, will I still have my father or grandfather around for years to come? If you talk about socialized health care, forget it. The government will soon only have so much money that they will start to decide who's useful and who should go. I wish the so ts in their 40 to 60s should start thinking about that. Perhaps they are not real so ts after all? Mmmm, Grandpa, what a hypocrite you are! It is fine to do endless studies on a drug, but when you're the one who's got the thing, you look at it differently. Each day we go without it, think of all the people who go on in pain, live compromised lives, and even die - yes, die - just because they were not allowed to have the new heart medication. And it is not so easy to say, "I will get the operation, " when it is you who must be the recipient. And I feel that I do share the same anxiousness for the sake of the ones I love who must suffer by it. If they are having a bad day, I will hear of it. I too get rather hopeful when I hear of new breakthroughts, but sadly I realize that the reality is they will probably never get to use it. Twenty long years of waiting. Maybe eight for the blindly hopeful. But how long shall one go on? He may get tired and desperate and take the last option - - angeoplasty. Once yu take that road, there is no going back. You must pray for God to be on your side. I do not want him to die because of this
- Not in my life. I live in Canada
- Yes, the affordability of health care will not be resolved until costs are held in check, but how you do it. No health care delivery is perfect and costs keeps rising; therefore, We need a system in place that rewards doctors for quality and service, and allow greater compe ion between doctors for your services. Insurance industry is rotted to the core to begin with, and major reforms in health care transparency needs to occur big time. Information sharing of medical information would be a start and would prevent a lot of costly mistakes. I did not vote for health care. I voted for people that did their job correctly regardless of party. A lot of treatments doctor recommend are not necessary. For example, I break my finger the doctors give me mri on the finger what does that cost insurance company 1000 dollars, but if the doctor did a xray it would be 200 dollars 1 / 5th the cost. In America there are 1500 insurance companies and every state regulations vary, and some states prohibit the selling of insurance across state lines. The goverments role is hard to define the goverment should encourage more tranparecy in the system and allow importation of drugs to have true freemarket for pharmectuals for the patients. The drug industry lobbies to block importation because they know thier medication are overpriced. Thier no sliver bullets to fix the problem and single payer healthcare system is not the way to go because a lot people jobs depend on the healthcare system for employment. Its not as easy as some on the politcal left make it to be
- I have no insurance. Many of my friends all college graduates have no health insurance. I think it is a big issue when so many children also do not have insurance. I do not have an answer but it is something that needs to be seriously addressed
- For the most part, yes. I can walk into any hospital in this country Canada and be served, for free, prepaid by taxes. Same with doctor's offices, including spe ts. I am good with that. They try to fix everything, even if some of the wait times
- AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE? This animal doesn't exist. Many of our elderly choose between medication, food and housing. As for me, My God did not intend for me to be a sickly person, depending on the inflated and corrupt medical systems in the USA. Lets face it, accidents do happen, you need coverage for that. However the # 1 cause of sickness in the USA, is. FOOD! the USA is the most obese nation on the planet. I would improve health care by raising the standards of FAST FOOD BUSINESSES. Really. I hurt for people 300, 400 pounds, in Burger K, and the such. Pharmaceutical companies in collaboration with hospitals and doctors see the general public as PREY. Honesty is ALMOST dead in the medical field, WITHOUT INSURANCE, YOU EXIST AT THE MERCY OF THE INTAKE TECH
