I have all the questions. None of the answers. Individual healthcare insurance is verrrry expensive, if you can even buy it. By the time anyone over the age of 40 looks to buy an individual policy, the insurance companies excluding "the skin and all of its contents" because of people's health history. Insurance companies do not build those big skyscrapers with fairy dust. They build them off the back of people who pay their premiums and many times eventually get priced right out of their policies. In my city, a doctor visit without health insurance costs around $125. Whattt? If one HAS insurance, they will bill the insurance company $90 - and the insurance company will discount the bill and pay $65. So, the patient "at the window" who forks over his $125 is getting absolutely positively robbed. I think the answer lies in higher deductibles. If you think about it, we have no opportunity to shop our healthcare costs. They have gone thru the roof. If a person had to the pay the first $1, 000 of his own medical expenses in a year, do you think doctors would be charging $125? They would absolutely NOT. Our system is broken. I hate to say it, but in my opinion, I think health insurance should not be a profit center for private enterprise. Health insurance should be provided just like Medicare is. by the government. Everybody gets insured; everybody pays the same; no exclusions. My mom has Medicare. She gets the best medical care in the world. Lets ask our government to take this over. And keep the skyscrapers, stock dividends, multi - million - dollar CEO's out of the mix
ask the government for $700, 000, 000 dollars to fix it! apparently they are just giving it away like water!
